Samantha is a 13 year old girl who was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia), in May of 2011. She has undergone treatment for six months and in December of the same year she relapsed. The medical team treating Samantha told her family that she needed a bone marrow transplant to save her life.
To help try and find a match, PADRES held a Bone Marrow Drive in conjunction with the ‘Stand for HOPE!’ 5K Charity Run/Walk on Sunday, June 24th, 2012. But the search for a compatible donor continues.
If you’d like to help Samantha, please visit: www.marrow.org, to register for the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). If you have any questions regarding registration please visit the FAQ page at: http://marrow.org/Join/FAQs_about_Joining.aspx.
