PADRES Is Seeking Qualified Interns for 2014
If you are interested in learning about the day-to day functions of a non-profit organization, in a fast paced environment, then PADRES is the place for you! PADRES offers year round mentorship experiences in the following areas of study: Psychology, Social Work, Marketing, Communications, Fund Development, and Nonprofit/Organizational Management. Depending on the area of study, interns can be assigned to work out of the PADRES Offices in Toluca Lake, Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) or UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center (JCCC).

Internships are available in the following areas:

  • General Program
    Interns will learn about the development, implementation, and evaluation of PADRES Patient/Family Programs and Services. Program interns will have an opportunity to shadow Family Case Managers in their daily interactions with patients and families as well as, participating in education sessions, quality of life activities, and assist families in identifying community resources and services.

  • PADRES/UCLA Cross-Training Research
    This unique opportunity incorporates the elements of our Program internship with cross training on psychosocial collaborative research projects. This position requires a rotation at UCLA's JCCC Young Adult Survivorship Program in addition to PADRES' Program Office at CHLA.

  • Marketing & Communications
    Interns will gain experience in understanding how marketing, communications and public relations help a nonprofit create awareness about its brand and services. Interns will assist in the creation and dissemination of external communications; marketing campaigns that include the creation of collateral materials; and assist the team on public relation efforts surrounding PADRES events.

  • Fund Development
    Interns will gain experience in fundraising principles and techniques including donor cultivation, grant research and grant writing. Interns will assist with database management, direct mail appeals and the coordination of fundraising events.

Application & Interview Period:
Fall: July 15 - August 30
Winter: December 15 - January 30
(Extended to February 28th)

Summer: April 15 - May 30

Internship Requirements:
Undergraduate, graduate, or post graduate students from a 2 or 4 year university; knowledge/experience in their area of study; 150 hour commitment to be completed in a maximum of a 9 month period.
